  Abstract:

  We address the problem of a lightly doped spin-liquid through a large-scale density-matrix renormalization group (DMRG) study of the t-J-type model on a Kagome lattice   with a small but non-zero concentration δ of doped holes. It is now widely accepted that the undoped (δ= 0) spin ½ Heisenberg antiferromagnet has a spin-liquid ground-state. Theoretical arguments have been presented that light doping of such a spin-liquid could give rise to a high temperature superconductor or an exotic topological Fermi liquid metal (FL*). Instead, we infer that the doped holes form an insulating charge-density wave state with one doped-hole per unit cell - i.e. a Wigner crystal (WC). Spin correlations remain short-ranged, as in the spin-liquid parent state, from which we infer that the state is a crystal of spinless holons (WC*), rather than of holes. Our results may be relevant to Kagome lattice Herbertsmithite upon doping.

  姜红臣,美国斯坦福大学SLAC实验室终生职位(tenure)研究员。博士毕业于清华大学高等研究中心,之后分别于美国加州大学圣塔芭芭拉分校微软Q研究所和卡弗里理论物理研究所从事博士后研究。2014年加入斯坦福大学。主要研究凝聚态多体理论,特别是运用密度矩阵重整化群(DMRG)方法对强关联电子模型作数值理论研究。在包括Nature、Nature Physics、Phys. Rev. Lett 在内的国际一流刊物发表论文多篇,受到国际学术同行的广泛关注。
