摘要:Discrete time crystal (DTC) is a class of nonequilibrium quantum systems exhibiting subharmonic responses to external periodic driving. In this talk, I will give two different examples of how to realize this intriguing phase of matter. In the first example, we constructed a Floquet model with quantum many-body scar states, which can give rise to a subharmonic response [1]. In the second example, we proposed a class of DTC enforced by nonsymmorphic dynamical symmetry, which can be regarded as a kind of prethermal DTC [2]. I will conclude by discussing the implications of these new discoveries.

简历:Prof. Xiao Li is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics, City University of Hong Kong. He received his BSc degree from Peking University in 2008, and his Ph.D. degree in Physics from the University of Texas at Austin in 2014. Between 2015 and 2018 he worked as a postdoc associate at the Condensed Matter Theory Center, University of Maryland (College Park). Prof. Xiao Li is mainly interested in novel states of matter that arise due to the interplay between topology, disorder, and electron-electron interactions. Recently, his research mainly focused on various aspects of non-equilibrium dynamics, such as many-body localization, quantum many-body scar states, and quantum chaos.
